Chris,
I have been a CH'er for near 20 years.
When diag in '85, 02 was the first thing prescribed.
(Along with numerous pharmacuticals).
The best way I can describe it is:
It is like turing off a light switch.
One minute you are on the brink, all of sudden:GONE.
It is like a miracle.
The only problems are:
You really need to get to it at the onset, the more the CH takes hold, the longer it takes to work, or may not at all.
I have had periods when it is completely ineffective, especially when I went Chronic in '93.
(fortunately I have returned to episodal).
Portability is an issue-an "E-tank" is the best for that.
Cost varies-currently my insurance has a network, which was a pain initially, but I have never had to return equip, or pay a bill.
If cost becomes a factor, and it works for you-buy a used setup.
They are available, and once initial cost covered, refills are not too bad.
If it works, you will have the same reaction as everyone: who cares, find a way to get it.
It works really well for me at night, just do not fall asleep while using: it is bad news to reawaken and find tank empty, especially when you need it.

I have also used it before going to bed w/no CH to "saturate" the blood stream,
and have therefore avoided the initial REM factor. (some times hits later though).

Hope this helps
good luck
Paul
