the two worse pains I can relate to are burning my left hand with an acetylene torch and when I awoke from my accident with torn ligaments in neck, back, hips, knees, and ankles, broken knee and shoulder blade, plus large pieces of skin torn from my legs, but yet I would not trade these pains for some of the clusters I had, that's the damnest part of clusters, the pain doesn't show, much nicer seeing a doctor with legs all black and blue, swollen with raw flesh and having him say holy shit than going in with the severe pain of a cluster that he never heard about and suggests taking a couple of aspirin.

60 mg of prednisone may kick it if it's that kind of cluster, with me, I know in less than an hour, a very long hour, my docs don't like prednisone and I have to agree, not a long term cure, it wears off after a short while and you have to take twice the amount plus live with the terrible side-effects, pus pockets in your skin, stretch marks, joint pain, bones easily broken, etc., not me, but my son has gone through all of this.

A 150 mg demerol 50 mg vistaril shot would give full relief in less than 20 minutes, I am told these shots are very painful, but never felt them during a bad cluster and they are given in the lower hip or butt, I am not the least bit shy to drop my pants in front of a nurse. I don't know how bad your dad is, but no human should have to suffer that much, get him into emergency.
