After a 2 year break (and I truly thought I was out of the woods!). They just came back last week. Since my last episode, 2 years ago-there have been some awesome breakthroughs in treatment. I have suffered for 12 years and tried everything from ergots to lithium with no releif. I do have the classic clusters: they come everyday at 6:30pm and go until about 8pm. A hot piercing pain behind my right eye-so extreme that I have contemplated suicide. Cold packs work to keep my from thrashing around and crying hysterically. But, last week my doc suggested imitrex tabs. From my research-I agreed that imitrex is only for migraines and wouldnt work on clusters. However-Im willing to try anything at this point! It cost big bucks: $250 for 18 pills!!! And I took my first dose last night when I felt the first indication. It took about 1/2 hour and it was as if the pain was lifted from my eye in a matter of seconds! I thought it was a miracle. I was so happy I cried. I wish that all CH sufferers could share my victory. Dont give up, there is something out there for you. I agree with the doctor that responded earlier- GET YOUR BUTT INTO A HEADACHE CLINIC ASAP!! You dont have to suffer like this anymore. Good luck... kath
