I believe that yours and Carl were certainly the correct stuff, although it sounds like they were somewhat under strength, given that Carl took what was a chemical warfare size dose without incurring any further brain damage :)
Dry doesn't mean dry like a cracker, more dry like rubber. A bit like a sun dried tomato, prune, sultana etc.
I have always advocated growing ones own, and using when fresh as the best means of achieving optimum dose.
