Hello everyone---My apologies for posting this anonmously but for obvious reasons, would prefer (for the time being) to stay that way. It deals with a drug called Dextromethorphan HydroBromide (DXM), a psychotrophic most commonly found in cough suppressent formula's. The following post WILL be controversial.
BACKGROUND: I have been chronic for a couple of years (2-3 time a day), member of OUCH and frequent forum visitor, anti-drug beause of my own abusive behaviors and a self taught neuro/endocrine expert (like all of us because of our conditions). I do not post to the fourm often but I feel I MUST share this with my fellow CH suffers. My meds are simply amerge and Oxygen. Have tried just about EVERYTHING to no avail!!
DISCOVERY: Without going into detail about Cytochrome P450-2D6, Seretonin levels or your 5HT neurotransmitter, I have read with interest Flash's findings using psychedelics such as Psiloybe C., LSD, etc... To be honest, at first glance, it seemed like a great excuse to play with psychedelics and rationalize it's usage (like any "recreational" drug); I've been thier so you can't con one of you (I'm more on Sailpappy's side). But the more research, the more I realize that Flash's parties may be up to something. Still, I didn't want to go there!! Anyway, to summarize a very long research story, combined with Steve Van Rees's Google search engine, I found what proved to be an interesting "theory" in DXM.
THE TEST: PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE DO NOT TRY THIS WITHOUT FULLY RESEARCHING THE CONTRAINDICATIONS OR PREFERABLY A "COME TO JESUS" MEETING WITH YOUR PHYSICIAN. THIS DRUG CAN BE VERY DANGEROUS!!!!! Anyway, sorry for screaming but seriously, if you are taking MAOI's, antidepressants or many drugs we take for CHs ... you could have very unpleasant reprecussions. Read the DXM link in full!! This drug when taken in a dose necessary to have an effect, will get you "fucked up" (excuse the language but just getting high didn't seem to get the real message across!!). Alright, enough disclaiming I'll get right to the point. Sunday (I was off work on Monday), I dosed with 350mg of DXM. Had the expected effect of entering the world of disassociation for about 6 hours. It wasn't too bad although I come from a past of "college trippin"...actually I hate to admit this being an upstanding member of society (and sober up until this point), I spent most of the time jamming with Stevie Ray Vaughn. Anyway, IT WORKED!!! IT REALLY WORKED!!! Here it is Thursday and I have not had one CH, have not used oxygen or any amerge and am thoughly PF!! The only way I can describe this is the last time I was heavely dosed on steroids...yea they knocked out my headaches but I looked like a blowfish and was on the verge of mania. Unfortunately, as I reduced the steroids, the CHs returned.
Now I do not know if it's just me but I believe I may be on to something here. I will continue to post updates and let you know if they return...who know's you may see may face on Neurology Today ... caption - Idiot finds cure for cluster headaches!!!
