I have found some information about Imitrex that might be of some interest. I promised Ike a couple of weeks ago that I would try to figure out a way to not have to reuse the self-inject needle (my deepest apologies,Ike,for taking so long to do this).

Anyway, I went to get an Imitrex out of the Pyxis-machine we have in the ER for med dispensing-and only found 6mg VIALS and a booklet on self-inject. So, I called our pharmacist who notified me that Imitrex can be ordered by vials at the hospital. I called CVS in my town and was told today that it CAN be ordered 5 SDV to a box (single dose vial) but at $255.00 a box. There's always a down side isn't there? If Walmart will order also, they might be cheaper-will add that to my "things to do today" list right next to "get a new compressor for heating unit." I'm about to freeze here in Southern Tennessee-LOL.

If you use a U-100 insulin syringe, for a 2mg dose you would draw back to the 33 mark or for 3 mg draw back to the 50 mark. The U-100 insulin syringe will hold 1cc of Imitrex(6mg)and the needle is small like the self-injector. So out of one box, instead of getting only 5 injections, you could get 10-15. Which also could benefit because that would be less time spent trying to get the doc to give another script for self-inject.

Well, sorry for the long post. I wasn't sure if ya'll had heard any of this stuff before or not. Let me know if you have.
