Hi DB,
We've tried the feverfew with little success. He has to take it for at least a month prior to the cycle starting, which is sometimes hard to determine. It did diminish that cycle but it was more of a pain than anything trying to figure out when to start him on it. It works better for migraine sufferers as a rule, but you never know. The one thing I have learned (one of the many) from this board is different things work for different people.
The water treatment is: one glass of water every half hour while awake (or as much as he can stand) and then a glass upon waking in the night. Be sure though, that there are no underlying medical problems such as kidney disease as this treatment is not recommended for those problems. I believe Dr. Jerry's theory here is that this rehydrates the cells and washes out the impurities that are making the clusterhead's system to be so far out of balance.
To read back in the messages on this board, press the Message Archives at the top of this page and then press the appropriate month. Specifically, there are three message that pop out at me. Jerry's first one dated October 12, "Psychologist...." introduces him to the board (I think) and explains his background and he starts to talk about the water theory. Oct. 18, "Water cure feedback" goes into it a little more and October 27 "READ THIS..." is a very detailed outline. There are lots of threads to follow with each of these messages but well worth the time spent.
Also, you can just type in the word WATER in the search box at the top of the page and it will lead you to related messages about water treatment by pressing the address at the bottom of each search result.
You might also want to research Feverfew, Oxygen, whatever you want this way. DJ has built us a fabulous research resource here and it can't hurt to try.
Best of luck and just remember, neither one of you is alone in this.
Cheers,
Margi
