To be very honest, there have been a few times when, for reasons of my own, I thought I'd just walk away from this board and not look back. But there aren't very many people that can really do that.
Once you've become a part of this family, the bond becomes too strong to walk away from. You get attached to these people. You get to know them and love them.
I've stayed away for a total of three months once. Do you think I missed you guys? Yes! Do you think I read the message board every day just to see if everyone was OK? Yes!
I haven't had a ch since 1986. Had them prior for 28 years. A couple of 10's thrown in there that sent me to the ER. If O-n-l-y s-o-m-e-o-n-e (said with feeling) would find a cure. But how many are really looking? A few.
People are worried about their $25.00 and what OUCH is going to do with their money. Holy Cow! If the BOD and Officers were going to spend the couple of thou that we have, they would have by now. We've even had an election and some new people got in and they haven't touched it yet either. Not only that but I feel quite certain that they must account for any money spent.
Maybe someday when we have accumulated a sizeable amount, we will all put our heads together and think of somthing spectacular enough to get the attention that we need, and we might have enough money to do it with.
But only if we have members who can afford (financially and/or emotionally) to come up with the $25.00 to add to the kitty. I don't understand the struggle people seem to be having about joining. I don't even care what is done with my $25.00 if it helps in some little way.
We are not being asked to donate a kidney or something like that. We are being asked to help ourselves and our friends. What's so hard about that?
And one more thing. Do you know who the Officers and the people on the Board are? Look it up. It's all the people here that you see puting in countless hours of their own time for you and me. It's the same people that you talk to & kid with, and have come to respect. It's Bennie Sue, Riccardo, jonny, Bob P, Kip, Ueli, and go look up the rest for yourselves. You might get acquainted with the OUCH site and what it stands for.
