If you changed the words "sleep apnea" to "liquor" the answers would be the same. For episodics, liquor only triggers an attack when in a cycle.
You get clusters during the day (and night) but only drink at night (I know that's not universal). So I still don't see how it could be dismissed as a possible trigger. After all, during sleep they both occur during REM-stage sleep and they both occur when blood-oxygen levels drop.
