I know you didn't state it directly, but if I'm reading between the lines correctly, your husband continues to drink (alcohol, I mean) while in a cycle. If that's the case, you're probably fighting a losing battle, as he's probably extending his cycle and exacerbating every headache.
If I'm way-off base here, I apologize; if I'm not, then you have to deal with the drinking first, even if it's "just one or two." But then you probably already know that.
Meanwhile, keep the faith that things can get better.
