Nancy, It is a bad idea to drink grapefruit juice with certain bllod pressure drugs because some studies have shown the juice can double the amount of active ingredients you absorb, increasing the risk of side effects, just like alcohol can with antihistamines. Doctors even say a cup of coffee or a snack of cottage cheese can interact dangerously with some medications--making you absorb too much of an asthma medication, for example, or too little of the drugs designed to protect you from stroke.
