Chicken pox, herpes and shingles are all the same thing, it just depends how it presents itself as to what to call it. 99.8% of the population carry the virus but not all are attacked by it. This is only my opinion but I don't see a connection between the virus and clusters. If anything, it may be the drugs used to fight the virus that brought on the clusters.
