Pam,
We're all in the same boat (with very few exceptions). Nobody can UNDERSTAND this pain until they go through it.
My doc was supportive (if vague) until I had a CH in his office one day and grabbed his lab coat and didn't let go until the pain subsided (after an injection of Imitrex). His attitude, as well as that of the whole clinic has changed since that day.
Unfortunately, my family never did get the picture. My son suffers from migraines and can't understand why I can't take something and lay down and get rid of it. His wife who's an RN can't explain the difference to him. It's just something we all learn to live with - that's what this site is all about. Only another Chead knows for sure what's going on.
Vent, scream, rave, or whatever - we're here to support each other. And when you get over this one, then it's your turn to support someone else. That's how we all cope.
