Have you tried Imigran and oxygen? I suspect from your IP address you're in the UK, and doctors are very reluctant there to give all the help that one needs.
I've just started lithium myself, and hoping that things improve - from talking to my specialist I'm a lot happier about taking it than I was. It's probably of more use for chronic sufferers than episodic though.
