What strikes me as so sad is that we call the feeling euphoria. I was calling them my "Great Days" The truth is, if you can remember nack to that time before the hedaches, it is what the non-pain world calls normal. I am 48 and just started getting these last November, and just got it correctly diagnosed in April. That's 5 months out of my life lost. My son had to get a driver's license so I could have somebody to take me to the hospital, where, of course, I was eventually written up as a drug seeker. I did tell them that in some way they were right, I would seek out any drug that could stop the pain. The demarol left me a mess for days. I can't imagine why they would think, after a lifetime of no addiction and no prior history of drug abuse that this would be the path I would take. I told the hospital that if that particular record was not purged from my records, they would be in for the fight of their lives. The doctor who finally diagnosed it wrote them a letter explaining the situation and still they are trying to defend their position. What pariahs we seem to be and how very sad for us.
