I have had DHE by IV. I thought it worked great, the only thing that ever reduced the pain of the cluster headaches. The headache pain was reduced after the treatment, but I felt worn out, like i was runover by a truck and my head felt spaced out but it did not hurt as much.
Now I use the DHE nasal spray called Migranal. It is small enough to take anywhere and I can administer it myself. It does have some side effects but as someone else stated the headaches are worse.
My advise is to try it a little at a time. If it works and you can tolerate it then try more.
