When I get hit, I know I've got about 45 minutes. I'm a "rocker". I sit in a chair
and squirm and rock. Have destroyed more chairs than I care to admit. In between the ice packs and while waiting for the meds to kick, I use the time to do a detailed journal for the doc. Concentrating on trying to describe what is happening minute by minute distracts me from the ouch. I can usually type at least a little bit through a Kip8 and then fill in as things subside.

I end up with a very detailed account of each event for the doc and somehow, it helps pass the time by giving me something besides the ouch to concentrate on
