For me that is! For the past 6 years or so I've been getting CH's. They follow the usual pattern, the cycle lasts anywhere from 6 months to a year (usually 8 months) with headaches lasting 1-2 weeks, peaking out with 7-10 a day (in the worst case). Fairly "normal" (ugh, can you actually call this event normal?).

My last phase was the worst on record for me. 2 weeks long, bell shaped curve of headaches (day 1, 1 headache; day 2, 0 headaches; day 3, 1; day 4, 2; day 5, 4; etc etc...building up then going away) The classical program here. (it feels odd being so clinical about it...)

Anyway...this time? TOTALLY different! For the past 3 weeks it has been TOTALLY random. 3 days of sunshine, 1 day 4 headaches...nothing then BAM out of the blue. Three recently (11 pm, 3 am, 7 am).

What gives here? What is the deal? I was so very used to my "normal" pattern. I could deal with that. I knew it would last X amount of time and then go away. Could I be going chronic? I'm 27!!! This isn't right. I'm scared to leave the house here for fear of having a headache while driving (it's happened too...parked on the side of the road...)

I have got to do something, anything, about this garbage. I take imitrex which is 70% effective. I've learned to live with CH's. The regular pattern I can handle. This? This is tooooo much. I'm at a loss for what to do...

Damn Unhappy,
D. Neil Crawford
