James, I think your post brings up lots of important issues that need to be re-addressed here from time to time when talking about this treatment. Lots of folks stay away from this treatment becasue of their fear of what you described. But discussions like these allow those of us who have tried it to quell those fears.
Obviously, I agree with Pinky in both his posts. Obviously, I believe whole-heartedly in this treatment. I am one week away from my One-Year-Pain-Free mark.
Obviously, I want nothing more than for each ClusterHead to find the same relief (by whatever method works for them).
I believe a lot of the 'prescribed' treatments are much more harmful to us that a little bit 'o' shrooms every 6 months. And this one actually helps the pain go away.
As clusterheads, we can't wait around for 'someone else' to find our answers - it's up to us. If we have the courage to fight this beast day in and day out, we have the courage to explore treatments likes these - with proven track records - and be our own guinea pigs if we have to. Heaven knows no one is gonna do it for us.
And the truth is, if the only way to get rid of this pain was to do some mega-dose and experience 4 to 8 hours of pure hell once evry six months - well, it's better then the day to day hell of CHs - and I'd sure give it a go. But thankfully, that's not the case. A few hours of a slightly tipsy feeling ain't so bad. There is enough information here (the shrooms page, the archives, folks who have found relief from this treatment) to calm the fears of anyone who might be considering this treatment. And enough useful and relevant information for them to go about it in a SAFE & RESPONSIBLE way!!!!
