there are probably 4 types of people:
1. Those who can and will attend regardless of location.
2. Those who can't or won't attend regardless of location.
3. Those who will go any reasonable distance and expense, but can't afford extravagence.
4. Those who can only come if the location is within reasonable driving distance.
1 and 2 shouldn't influence any location decision, leaving only those people in 3 and 4 to be considered by the BoD and Officers.
Now, 3 can best be served by a "central" location. But suppose St. Louis or Kansas City were chosen permanently? Only those people close by in group 4 would ever get the chance to attend.
This argues for rotating locations every year, but recognizes the the make up of Group 4 will change every year.
Either way, it's a very tough call and I'm glad I don't have to make it.
