Nancy -- The people who revel in their own ignorance always seem to outnumber those of us who manage to learn a little from life. Nurses don't have a bad name; people do.
I'll never forget how much utter crap I had to go through just to get a diagnosis. It was 25 years ago, but I'll bet things haven't changed a whole lot. The Minneapolis Headache Institute (hopefully defunct) earned a special place in my heart when they told me my real problem was the drugs I was taking for the headaches! They couldn't tell me anything about the headaches, but they were sure that a month in inpatient rehab would fix me right up! Thank God I had enough strength and sense to walk away from that stupidity and keep looking for a real answer. Finally, after neurologists and the Headache Institute crooks and internists, it was a "simple" GP who figured it out! One good doctor in the flock!
Good luck with your boss. Suffering fools is just part of the dance, I guess.
