Taking them as directed may not be enough, and if you take too many for too long the acetaminophen component will zap your liver. My understanding is that the hydrocodone component does far less immediate physical damage (other than make you constipated), but of course it does have the nasty potential of being addictive. I guess it all boils down to the importance of being very careful with stuff like Vicodin. For most people it's just not a good option for controlling clusters.
