Which means it may remain longer in your body than intended. And so the effect of the medication may become different than intended.
People who have always taken grapefruit AND Verapamil, are counseled NOT to stop taking the grapefruit, because that may also influence the effect Verapamil has.
BTW grapefruit also has this effect, though usually slight, on the estrogens in the contraceptive pill.
