I generally try not to address the religious issue in detail, but you did ask why anyone should mind if you say something about prayers, so I will respond to your question.
I don't believe any such thing as a "god" exists. I won't expound upon my thoughts more, because I believe it would be in poor taste and I know it would offend many believers. I respect and fully defend your rights to believe.
If I can respect your beliefs enough not to challenge them overtly on a board which has nothing to do with religion, am I asking too much to request that you do the same? I have and would never say a word about anyone using email to request that other believers join in a prayer vigil on behalf of anyone, board member or not.
Yes, you can say that if I dislike the religious posts then I can merely not click on them. I could say the same. You not only clicked on but responded to my post. If it disturbed you, why didn't you just pass it by?
I also don't believe I objected to personal threads here. If I did so unintentionally, please accept my apology. My comments were intended to do three things....show support to Piper and jonny, address the "clique" issue and comment on the fact that many people who post here get very offended when someone else posts an opposing opinion.
