I came across this web site almost by accident and since I once suffered from Cluster headaches, I decided to take alook around and see if any new treatments were being sucessfully used. Notice I said ONCE!!! I have been headache free for over 4 yr. now.
I was given "everything" from ergotomine to Imitrex (which worked but caused rebound headaches that were even more severe and longer lasting)when it first became available, all to no avail. Then on a chance and a consult with a fellow Dr., my Dr. started me on a course of Inderal, a beta-blocker. Hot Damn!!! Instant relief, turned them off like a switch. I had to up my dosage slowly (as the headaches returned) to find my maintenance level, 180mg daily. Inderal is a relatively benign drug that has proven itself safe in the longterm. How come I don't see any mention of it here?
