When I looked up and saw his face and went into shock because that was the face I'd seen in the mirror so many times. Gosh what a horrible SUPPORTER I was. I can still remember my first reaction was to ask him "Are you alright?" How STUPID can you get Barb?
I think he said something nice like *((&^%^ Off! Kip is always a gentleman about things.
And then my next STUPID question was, "What can I do to help?" He said something else that resembled (*&*^^ Off! But this was MY first experience with actually seeing another human go through this thing I'd been fighting for so long.
It certainly gave me a new respect for supporters.
Then, Elaine, remember sitting outside at the picnic table - you, me and Drummer while you were having one and Drummer patting you and me afraid to touch you. It was funny after it was over and the next morning we were comparing bruises over coffee and trying to figure out who had the most unique one. I still think I won that one. How can you get one under the top part of your arm without knowing HOW? LOL!
All the "newbies" SHOULD go to the archives and read our experiences of that meeting. It was a FIRST and with each convention we have with OUCH, the first timers who come experience a little of what we felt in Rochester. You guys have made my holiday weekend with this nostalgia stuff. I think we need to have a reunion in Rochester. But Dave probably would have the outdoor johns installed just to show us! -:).
