A POEM, WITH ALL DUE APOLOGIES TO C.C.R.
Just about a year ago
I set out on the road
seeking my fame and fortune
looking for a pot of gold.
Things got bad, I lost a friend
my H.A.'s were getting worse,
Oh Lord, stuck in Red Bluff again.
Sold my house in Red Bluff
I was looking for a brand new start
From Nebraska to Arizona
from Oregon to L.A.
H.A. after H.A. it's no fun when you're on the road,
Oh Lord, Stuck in Red Bluff again.
My fuzzy dice kept swinging
to a beat only truckers know
winshield wipers keeping time
to the rythem of the road
Diner after diner
Lord I can't stand the grease no more
Oh lord, stuck on the freeway again.
My H.A.'s knew their tempo
They would hit me at the very worst time
Many's the hour I'd sit by the road
and cry and bang and cry
I put pedal to the metal and heard my worn tires sing
determined to find a home.
Oh Lord I'm stuck in Red Bluff again.
O.K. Leesa and Nancy. I'm finally done with all the painting and I'm back on-line. I'm ready to work now. E-mail me with whatever job you think I can do. Linda Howell who is no longer a road warrior ( in fact, my car is in the garage and I've given the keys to a friend)
