...with you, I want to give you the cause of all this (IMHO):

USA always helped other people (and few thanks for this, and many F...Y..)
The world, inconsciously, has taken you like an older, clever, rich brother. To help this kind of brother is not in the "mechanism" of the brain.
If I hear about a disaster in BanglaDesh, in India, in Africa, the first thing I think is how to help (money and people help) them.

Hearing disaster from USA (this last one is not a disaster, is worse!) I think the same thing about the people that suffered the disaster, but my mind don't touch the thing of money and personal help. He is my elder brother, he knows at well how to help himself.

Is not selfishness, is not roughness, is an implanted STATEMENT. I cannot imagine to help a brother that's clever, rich and good much more than all others. I will be shy also to ask him "Need help?"

Please, take this as a good thing, it is. But agree with you that sometimes the elder brother could love to hear "Need help?"

Our (Europe) "Need help?" was the lowering our national flags to half-staff.

(BTW, In Italy all the "light stuff" on all TVs were stopped for 2 days, and all the sports and public events observed a minute of silence before the start. But I tell this only for respect, not for asking thanks...)

Love to America and Americans
