It has been 2 years since my wife last suffered a series of CHs. That time it thankfully ended in one week. This time they have been going for a week now, but are completely erratic. Before they were predictable. Every night at 1AM. This time they started out as 2s or 3s and have randomly escalated to 8s and are happening at night, during the middle of the day, morning...it is frightening because they are much like the 1st series of CH she had in her 20s (she is 47 now) which lasted for 6 months.
Right now she has started taking Imitrex 50mg and oxygen as an abortive. Seems to work most of time, but shadows often return within hours. She has been continuing to work even with minimal sleep because she feels staying at home with nothing else to occupy her mind would probably be worse.
Does anyone know of a good Dr. who understands CH in Macomb County in Michigan? I know we have several great places in Ann Arbor, but when you are having a series of CH, the thought of driving over an hour to your Dr. can be pretty overwhelming if not impossible. Sometimes it seems difficult to find even medical people who understand the severity of CH if they themselves haven't had them.
