My GP ran me through a maze with Imitrex inhaler, Duradrin, Maxalt, Zomig, Lortab,and Migranal. None of these seemed to do anything except the Imitrex which works only occasionally and the Lortab which numbs the pain slightly and makes me disfunctional. My neurologist has prescribed Depakote, & Duradrin and has changed me to Stadol NS for pain management. I am seeing him in the next week and he is talking about oxygen. The Stadol is much better than the Lortab for pain management, it allows me to function to some extent but it has some bad side effects. (not to mention it is very expensive)
They all just seem to be shooting in the dark. I have compiled some info from this site that I am taking with me to my next appt. in hopes of opening up some direction. In addition to all the prescription meds I have tried ODing on water, acupuncture, a chiropractor, and several different herbal drugs that I read about. I know there has to be something outside of pain management that can control or abort them.
