Well, I know that about thirty years ago there were rumors that Morning Glory seeds were coated in a nausea-inducing chemical, but it can be removed by soaking in water.
I think it is doubtful that growers would go so far as to use an actual POISON... and if they did they would be required by law to have a warning prominently displayed on every package. Failure to do this would leave them open to VERY serious legal action. What if an infant managed to eat some, for example?
