I have been chronic for over a year now and can understand what you're going through. I am a very passive person and for me to "freak out" is a major thing to my family. To my knowledge, there is no relief other than narc's when in a major attack.
HOWEVER, please don't use this as an excuse to use narc's. Believe me, it's not worth it. They are TOO dangerous for chronic sufferers. When you are chronic, you begin to depend and even WANT the narcs. They are NOT the answer. Please check out this site and take into consideration the alternative "preventatives" that the peeps have to offer.
There are MANY folks, some medical personell, who have clusters and can help you. Things like, O2, water, circulation techniques (thanks Charlie), and so on.
Please take the time between attacks and read on the methods of treatment. In my opinion (which I believe to be almost expert at this point) these methods are more advanced than the neuro's and md's that you can go to.
These people are GREAT and can really help you.
Above all else, please know that you are NOT alone in this fight. Statistically, you and I are minor according to the authorities, but there are MANY folks here who can offer advice and support for your pain.
