Like everything else that deals with CH, there are many ways to approach neck pain relief...and, yes, it is sympathetic response to CH pain...The tightening of the muscles tend to pull the cervical vertebrae around, thus pain...the skull sits on the axis, the slighest displacement causes CH type pain with radiating pain down the muscles of the neck and shoulders...Both Neuro and Chiro have explained this to me...Tried the over the door stretch, what Vic said, massage, chiro, injections of cortisone in the neck muscles, more electric stretch therapy, charlie's biofeedback, and back to the chiro, as it has proved to be the most consistant help...None of these things "cured" my CH pain, but each in some way made it easier to bear...So, I visit the chiro once a month, practice charlie's plan, exercise/stretch, and have found that now, sleeping in a soft collar often helps...Sharing, instead of venting...Blessings to all...
