In Reply to: For those of you who read my entire post about the oxygen, here is an update... posted by Eric on November 27, 2001 at 14:09:10:

the first thing about proper use of oxygen, as a matter of fact he stopped over at my home to see my new oxygen concentrator as he didn't know such items existed. He wrote the prescription I needed to get started and referred me to what they call a respiratory therapist, a separate section in my clinic, my therapist was very knowledgable in what equipment I needed and knew all about cluster headaches. Explained that raw oxygen on the membranes can hurt, supplied the humidifier, taught me to coat my nose with non-perfumed A&D ointment, supplied the humdifier, said to fill it with distilled water only, keep the bottle clean and so forth. This was over 17 years ago and I feel that I have been using oxygen successfully since. Matter of fact, I have dropped all meds due to various side-effects and the oxygen, least for me is working very well.I tried to be as honest as possible in my other reply, but for firm advice, you have to seek a respiratory therapist that specializes in this field in proper use of oxygen, also one that has worked with cluster headache victims. This is about the best advice I can give you. All this was foreign to me 17 years ago so I think I know what you are going through. The therapist spend over an hour with me the first time.
