though I don't consider this a 'shadow' since mine occur internally, I do have a vein throbbing on my pain side temple at least once a day. Usually these turn into full blown attacks in the next 10 minutes although sometimes it does go away. Almost an external manifestation that moves inward since once the attack is on, the throbbing vein goes away. FWIW
