My first CH came in Jan of 86, Woke up in the middle of the night with a pain so intense in my right eye I thought it was going to explode. The intensity of it I couldn't even describe. I had never felt such pain in my life. I had no doubt that this was going to kill me. What I remember most is thinking what can I do that could hurt more than this to make this not hurt so bad. That was the first one, it lasted about 45 minutes. I remember thinking to myself that there is no way I can live though this. I thought I had some evil flu virus because my nose would run. I had this happen about 3 more times before 10 am. that day. I noticed that through out the day I had a feeling almost like some kind of electrical current was running along the right side of my face and eye area. Every single hair on my head felt like it was a raw nerve ending. My right eyeball was swollen, visibly. The next night at almost the exact same time I felt it getting ready to happen again. My Dad took me to the ER, what a show that was. They gave me a shot of demerol and sent me home. I woke up at about 6 in the morning and to me it seemed what could not have gotten any worse was even more painful then before. I got in to see a GP the next afternoon. Of course then I wasn't even showing the signs of anything but being worn out and hung over from the demerol. Pain medication and antibiotics. They didn't work. After a month of having them every night like clock work I was able to get an appointment at the Air Force base at Williams. I saw a Dr. there who referred me to a civilian Neuro. After much run around and MRI, CAT scan and several medications for sinuses I was diagnosed with Clusterheadaches.
I now use OOOOOOOOOh-2 and Imitrex.
I am glad you asked Jack. Wish I could be as short and to the point as you, with practice I will get better.
Glad you are back! I have always wanted to say I knew Jack.
P.S. Dennis steals kisses
