..and I didn't get to do any skydives this weekend thanks to the beast once again. On the way out to the drop zone the beast reared his ugly head, the first time in weeks he's managed to break through the levels of Oxycontin that the neurologist has put me on. Wound up back at the ER off in Lodi once more. The same nurse who took such an interest in making sure I was well cared for last time was there. The first words out of her mouth? "What are you doing back here?" Another day with the beast out of control. At least this time I got her name--Brenda N. (I'll leave off her last name to protect her privacy). Again, a hefty shot of Demorol, and fifteen minutes later I can relax and watch my blood pressure drop 25 points. I've been back to a low/no pain status since Saturday, which is enjoyable. The neurologist has me on pretty strong doses of Oxycontin; I know, I know, I'm trading off the physical dependency that comes at such levels for having my life back. In the meantime, my thanks to Brenda--she really made a difference for me. I'm hoping to go out and jump next weekend. Not enough skydives and Todd starts getting edgy...
Blue skies and PFNAD,
