About Imitrex, it NEVER works with me, and my Doc told me: If it don't work, it will never work!
But I am not surethat a triptan can work some years and then stop its effect. May be cause rebound headaches, but it has to function everytime.
May be the shot you took was in a "bad time" for your body, may be you had hit a "non-venous" zone of the skin/fat, and the absorbtion was slow.
