that happens to me all the time. What I do now, is I highlight the entire message before I hit back and press Control C (copy). Then, if the message isn't there when I do go back, I press Control V (paste) and *presto* my words are there again so I can edit all my typos.
Must just be a glitch - but there's always workarounds for glitches!!
