In May of 1968 around my 18th birthday I took my father's brand new VW bug out drinking and proceeded to total it by hitting a parked car. Fortunately no one was with me and those were the days when Cops used to condone drinking and driving. I reported to the service right after high school graduation which helped me to escape my father's wrath. A couple of years ago one of my daughters had a tremendous car accident. I got the call late at night. I did not raise my voice nor do I ever talk about it. I just paid the bills. My father never raised his voice 33 years ago either.
I did own a 1971 Chevy Malibu with a big engine in the early 70s though and the girls liked it.
