Karen has agreed, in view of the season, to share her recipe for
Colonial Chess Pie
1 C. granulated sugar
1 C. brown sugar
1/4 C. sifted flour
1/2 tsp. salt
1/2 C. butter
1/2 C. whole milk
2 tsp. vanilla
Optional add ons
Heat sugar,milk, flour and butter to dissolve, then cool.
Beat eggs well, add vanilla and salt to cooled mixture and mix well.
Pour in unbaked pie shell.
Bake 35-40 min. in 350 degrees oven, then
Lower temperature to 250 to finish baking.
Pie will puff across the top when done.
Cool before slicing for eight.
