Yes. They can use software to search sites for email addresses (this messageboard has hundreds of addresses). Another way... assume they want to spam your ISP. They can use software to generate email addresses ava@cena.demon.nl, avb@cena.demon.nl, avc@cena.demon.nl, avd@cena.demon.nl, ave@cena.demon.nl, etc...
They do not care how many bad addresses they send to, just so there are a few good ones. They'll send 50000 emails and if 100 are real addresses then they had a good day.
It is best to just ignore them. If you click on the "Remove" button they discover that your email address is a good one and they will sell it to other spammers.
