when your running the heat it dries the humidity out of the air, I haven't been in cold weather for a long time but I definately remember the link between coming in from the moist cold outside to the dry hot inside, got me everytime, Hope it helps you!! depending on weather you have gas or electric heat or a wood burningor coal burning system are all factors in this, wood and coal actually put some toxins in the air too!
