I see by your email address you are in B.C.? Sometimes, the cold can be a blessing, especially for a clusterhead. My husband quite often does that too, just goes outside in the dead of winter to get cool - he heats up incredibly at onset of attack. We're in southern Alberta (Calgary), so we get our share of chilly stuff here too.
If you can, get yourself some Gravol, Pat - it might just help you get through the night for a couple of nights. Doesn't let you get into REM sleep, but hopefully it will make the Beast/Bitch loose your address for a few hours of much needed sleep.
Also, I've seen Mike scoop up a handful of snow and put it in a baggie (Canadian version of an ice pack, right?) and just lay it on the back of his neck while he's pacing. It really helps him to stay calm and get through the attack. Deep breathing to get that oxygen flowing through your blood, don't forget that. Better yet, can you get some oxygen in tank form? That's really aborted a lot of attacks for Mike.
Hang in there, Pat - I'm sorry you're alone going through this torture. Wait. You're NOT alone - you've got us now!
Feel free to email me if you need a shoulder, lady.
Margi
