Nifedipine (Adalat is one of it's trade names) is a calcium channel blocker, a bit different from Verapamil that many more use. So there are not many reports here about it. In view that rxlist.com mentions a daily dose of 30 - 60 mg for heart diseases, your 60 mg are probably on the lower range for CH.

BUT WHAT THE HECK about taking it only for one week and then tapering down, that makes no sense. Calcium channel blockers are used as a PREVENTATIVE, and therefore must be take during the whole cluster period (and some folks continue to take it during remission). They do on NO WAY shorten your cycle and must hence be taken until the cycle stops by itself.

It seems that your doc is mixing it up with the Prednisone burst (a steroid) that (sometimes) can shorten a cycle.
