I always thought the statement "if you don't try such and such you're not in a lot of pain" was BS too. If that was an accurate statement we'd all have tried surgery by now, which I highly UNrecommend.
That said, I think you should give it a try. you won't get brain damage from trying 1/4-1/2 the recreational dose. Your liver won't fail on you from it (I don't even see the connection there) and if you try shrooms and not acid there won't be rat poison or anything else in it. It's all very natural.
