I got sent a random email today with the promise of a cure for all headaches, no matter what kind.  It doesn't even tell you what it is they do, so it's obviously a con.  I just wanted to draw attention to it.

I like this bit :

" CET requires a medical practitioner's diagnosis of the headache type before treatment can be carried out. Patients are therefore required to fax, email or bring with them a statement of diagnosis.

This is very important because the therapy is tailored to a specific type of headache and is only effective for that headache.

There would be no treatment without a medical practitioner's diagnosis"

So, they can cure all types of chronic headaches including clusterheadache in a 30 mins consultation but they dont know how to make the diagnosis ?  ::)

I guess then if the the therapy doesnt work they will blame the doctor for having made the wrong diagnosis ? "Its not that our product doesnt work, you just didnt have THAT kind of headache, you were misdiagnosed by your doctor, go back and complain to your doctor ! "  :-X

I Emailed these guys and heres what the reply was...

Hi David,
Thanks fo much for your mail.
Cutting Edge Therapies is for real. The website may look basic but substance is our essence. It is a start by the way.
The treatment is natural. It is a combination of natural herbs and oils and has no side effects.
As stated in our email, we can gurantee a cure once the headache is congenital.  We are currently waiting for testimonials from some CH site members who are coming off their medication to confirm the cure. I would keep you posted once the  testimonials are posted on the CH site.
Please tell the skeptics that this is for real. Feel free to ask questions. I look forward to hearing from you soon. Have a nice week-end.
Regards,
Kwesi Adabunu

Is this company for real?
I am an episodic cluster headache sufferer , im very interested in what you have to say,
But your website dosnt really have any information about your treatments, as you probably know there has’nt been a cure for cluster headaches,
And if what you say is true that is amazing,
I am from the U.K but i am living in Mexico, if i know you have a cure i would be on the first plane home,
I will wait for your responce, but i need more info, alot of other sufferers are saying your web-site is a hoax,
Kind regards,
Dave

Snake oils, per chance ?  ::)

What types of headaches are congenital ? There are some possible genetic links to some types of chronic headaches but congenital headaches ???  [smiley=huh.gif]

And so, they can guarantee a cure but they still have to wait for the testimonials of the people to say how well the "cure" is working ?  [smiley=laugh.gif]

i don't know. i really don't like a company emailing me out of the blue peddling treatments or drugs. as far the "get a letter from your doctor" remember allot of doctors play golf with drug company representatives. if its safe and natural like it says on there site why would you need a letter from anybody? would also like to add that i haven't been farther than a family doctor for ch treatments.  i have been dealing with this on and off without expensive meds  for several years now.   so you can add them to the list of people that wont be getting any money from me. other than that, haven't tried it. don't know if it works or not, hell maybe it does.

Seems more than fishy to me.  I did a quick Google on "Kwesi Adabunu" and as expected didn't find much. If it is a genuine name then it is likely to be this chap who was quoted in a council report in 2003 (not sure if he still works there of course):

Kwesi Adabunu
Policy Planning and Commissioning Officer
Joint Health Unit
Greenwich Social Services
London Borough of Greenwich
Town Hall
Wellington Street
Woolwich
London
SE18 6PW

If I were a betting man – and I am – I'd put a mad fiver on him being one and the same.  Their offices (Cutting Edge Therapies Ltd, that is) are purported to be just outside the council boundary:

28 Southerngate Way
London
SE14 6DN

Interesting that the name Kwesi is of West African origin and it looks like most of the names in the "testimonials" are too.  Maybe the natural herbs and oils are another form of alternative treatment stemming from Africa; but as I said, it all seems very fishy to me.

I'm in Hampshire so Deep South!
Have just seen this post and tried their site but it seems to  be under construction at the moment.
Did some investigation on the company and it was incorporated on January 4, 2008.
The directors are Kwesi Adabunu and Eric Kotoka, both Ghanaian.
Adabunu is a director of 3 other companies in the UK - unfortunately I'm unable to obtain the names without a subscription...
