I have been taken melatonin for 3 months and the pain went away.
The first week I had 2 soft crisis ( one each night), the next week, only one and after no more pain.For me, it works wonderfully. I take 2 mg, 30 minutes before bed and the only side effects I have had is that I wake up early ( I was a big sleeper)
Before melatonin I was completely desperate, because my cycle lasted for about 4 months and this year nothing ( except oxygen) was working for me This was the worst cycle in all my life.
Here in venezuela, where I live, I get melatonin only at a natural company( btw a company from USA)
and it isn't expensive: 50 capsules ( 1 month) for about 15 bucks ( of course in bolivares, the national money)
Now, my oxygen tank is a museum piece in my home and I have not take any other drug
BTW, I knew about melatonin here on this board and many friends from it mailed me and told more about it.
