I just spent a week as an in-patient receiving DHE through an IV on a rotating cycle. They used toridol(sp) in between as a non narcotic pain med in between with a standing order for sister Morphine if needed. I only needed the heavy stuff the first night because I had to go a 24 to get all the Imitrex out of my system.
I needed it one other time at night and had a nurse from, believe this, an Ortho ward filling in who thought she knew better. She didn't even know what a Cluster is. She sure does now. My evaluation form upon dismissal will address that, firmly. The minute I got home I downloaded and bound all that wonderful Cluster info DJ has compiled and gave to the nurses station so that no one ever goes through that again.
As for me it seems to have worked in that it broke the cycle. I'm at home with my O2 and 40mg. of predisone daily. No pain after weeks of HELL that put me in the hospital. Like all of you, I know the beast is tricky but I slept last night ,sweet, sweet, deep sleep.
I have other info to add and can answer questions, I'll sign on tonight for chat at 10:00 if I can answer any ?'s regarding this treatment.
Good Luck to all of you who are sufferring. There are some Docs out there who really care about this disease.
What we need is a Doc taking part in this sight because right now it's just us. And reading these messages you can tell we need help....
