Depakote definitely drains energy, but I believe clusters themselves cause fatigue. I've got chronic clusters (over six years) and I've had the fatigue during periods when I was not taking any medicines at all. Other people have told me the same thing.
Eventually I think doctors will talk about "cluster headache syndrome", because they'll realize that other symptoms occur besides headaches. The hypothalamus, which has been in the news, controls the metabolism and other things besides the blood vessels which cause cluster headaches.
